I Am Me | Research with Tilly's Life Center
I’m pleased to share highlights of the most recent phase of research completed with Tilly’s Life Center’s “I Am Me” school program. It is always a pleasure to be able to illustrate proof of the positive impact a program like this offers students. A big thank you to Tilly’s Life Center and wishing all of these young people a bright, successful and happy future!
About the program:
Teens are facing problems that are universal, affecting them at every socioeconomic level and in every community. Even in supportive environments, teenagers face confusion and uncertainty in life.
The Tilly’s Life Center (TLC) “I Am Me” program empowers teens by teaching life skills that build confidence, inspire compassion, and encourage them to pursue their dreams.
Using experiential learning, including journal writing, open discussions, and activities, our classes promote self discovery and cover relevant topics in a safe and caring environment.
Comprised of 3 Phases of 12 courses that meet once a week for 90 minutes, making up an entire academic school year. It is both a High School Elective Course and offered as an after school program with partners like Boys and Girls Clubs, El Viento, Operation Progress, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and also in hospitals and juvenile hall.
TLC’s programs are led by a group of trained facilitators who use engaging curriculum, supportive instruction and personal attention to aid youth in creating a well-defined sense of self, cultivating community mindedness, releasing negative emotional stress and developing new behavioral patterns.
